The bends in the ring are made to follow the curves of a river close to your heart. Each one is custom made to order and is completely unique. 

How To Place Your Custom River Ring Order

After you have placed your order email hello@thicketjewelry.com with your order number and include an image of the river map you would like your ring made after. (A good way to do this is to take a screenshot of the map zoomed into the section of the river you particularly love.)

NATURAL HISTORY

Owls swallow their prey whole but are unable to digest bones and fur. They regurgitate the undigested parts of their prey as what are known as owl pellets. Based on the other bones found in the same owl pellet this pelvis bone likely came from a field mouse or similar small rodent. You can see the rounded socket in the bone where the femur would attach.

About the process

Each piece of Thicket jewelry begins with taking a mold of a found or foraged natural object. This mold is used in the process of lost wax casting to create a perfect replica, in solid fine metal, of the original natural object.

Why metaphor?

Jewelry is not only adornment - it is symbolism. Jewelry can be a talisman, a reminder, a covenant, a spell.

Humans have been ascribing meaning to the natural world for a very long time. In selecting natural objects to cast I think not only about the form and aesthetics but also the valences of meaning the object holds and I include these in the description of each Thicket piece. Each of these metaphors is a beginning, waiting for you to layer your own meanings and stories onto.
